Something Blue

This past Saturday, we traveled to Brenham for a wedding, making a stop in Houston on the way.  There are a few places we almost always go to when in Houston, and Kaboom Books is one of them.  Once in Brenham, we made a detour downtown to stretch out legs and visit the quaint shops.  The wedding venue was the historic Giddings Stone Mansion which has maintained its original style despite renovations and repairs.  My favorite feature was the floor-to-ceiling windows, many opened out to the porch…an old take on “open concept”?

The wedding was an outdoor-indoor affair, and fortunately the weather was absolutely perfect albeit a little warmer than a typical February afternoon. The sweater dress I wore served to keep me from being chilled by the breeze and the material being on the thinner side ensured I wasn’t uncomfortable when the sun decided to come out.  The blue wrap belt served to being out the stripes and give the dress more shape.  As for shoes, I spent the majority of the day in my favorite sandals. They’re super comfortable and the minimalist straps balance out the flashy gold color. When it was time for the wedding, I switched them out for for a brown and gold wedge.

Loved this cute rocker covered in velvet.

I love old doors and knobs.

The Giddings Stone Mansion was filled with items that took you back in time.
