So if you have any national pride, you’ve been watching and cheering on the U S of A for a few days now as they compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics. While it’s difficult to draw inspo from the athletes’ outfits to infuse into my personal style, I was inspired to incorporate multiple colors by the 5 intertwined Olympic Rings.
If you know me, you know a good 80% of my shoes and just a slightly lower percentage of my clothes are neutrals and that I’m not typically one to wear multiple colors in an outfit. Soooooo… I decided to challenge myself to compile outfits that incorporated all five colors: black, yellow (gold), red, green, and blue. While the pieces I chose aren’t necessarily the same bold hue as the rings (and I also took the liberty to let accessories, lipstick, and nail color count), trust me when I say I wouldn’t have paired these up like I did otherwise. Even Jeff commented on all the colors I was wearing when I stepped out in this for our date night. π But it worked! I didn’t get a picture since we were basically rushing through the entire night, so here’s a flatlay for you…
Green: Rag & Bone blazer β’ Not an Olympic kelly green, but green nonetheless.
Blue: Timo Weiland tunic length v-neck β’ I’m all about the long blouses these days.
Black: GAP corduroy pants β’ Tip for the gals who have to wear “short” sizes – if a shorter pant length isn’t offered but they have petite sizing, try going with a petite in one size up. That’s what I did with these.
Red: Stuart Weitzman heels β’ ClichΓ© but every gal needs a hot red pump.
Gold: Jessica Simpson pendant necklace β’ On clearance at Dillard’s a few years ago… those 40%+ off racks are the best.
>>> Who else loves a good cobalt blue and olive green combo??? I forget how good these colors look together. ππ»π <<<
Here’s to stepping out of the norm. Awarding myself a rose gold medal for effort. π
